Is Conductive Keratoplasty (CK® eye surgery) a permanent procedure?
While patients can expect to enjoy the benefits of CK® eye surgery for many years, it cannot stop the natural aging process of our eyes. Conductive Keratoplasty will, however, turn back the clock to a time when you could read without glasses. However, CK® eye surgery is not a reversible procedure. Are the results immediate?
The majority of patients enjoy an improvement in their vision immediately after CK® eye surgery. However, your vision will continue to improve before stabilizing over the next several weeks.
Do both eyes need treatment with CK®?
No. Most patients only require one eye to be treated.
When may I return to work?
Another wonderful advantage to Conductive Keratoplasty is the ability for patients to return to work and many daily activities the day following the procedure. However, if your job requires a significant amount of eyestrain, you may wish to rest your eyes for several days before returning to work.
Is the Conductive Keratoplasty procedure painful?
No. CK® eye surgery is considered entirely painless. Many patients report feeling a slight pressure, but no pain. Anesthetic eye drops are used to numb your eyes so that you feel nothing throughout the short procedure.
How is Conductive Keratoplasty (CK®) performed?
A small, pen-shaped instrument is used to apply radiofrequency (RF) energy to reshape the cornea. The tip of the instrument that actually penetrates your cornea is as thin as a human hair.
What is presbyopia?
